Was an awesome day, Look Foward for more days like this to come more often from New Zealand!
I only just noticed on this photo how much lock I was actually getting…
Even with a Power Steering Rack, with the Billspeer Knuckles installed and a good alignment, the amount of lock I was getting was awesome!
Now time for Manual Rack Conversion to get a Little bit more out of the 86!
Need to also find a 4.556 Final gear which will make it abit more fun and a little easier on the clutch haha.
Check Beeoneoneoh for more awesome photos from the day!
Happy 86 day to all.
I have always wanted to organize a 86 only track day in NZ and seeing as my 86 was finally here from Japan I thought I would give it a go this year and what a day it turned out to be!
Thanks to Chris “Picket” Howard from Zero Class, we were able to book out Taupo Track 3 which is a very nice small technical track for NZ standards so was perfectly suited for underpowered cars, but what helped us on the day was the rain… Well it helped me anyway! haha
There were a lot of media there so please stay tuned for Pictures and Videos from the day popping up
Olly Jepson @ Taupaki Drift Club
Max Fouhy @ Zero Class
I was busy driving so I think I took 2 photos on the way home haha but having pictures like this makes it all worth it:
Thanks to Chris Cain for the Photo
I would also like to thank Adam, Mark, Matt, Harry, Chris, Ressa, Adam, Daniel and Nick for helping me get this car ready for this day! Hope everyone had as much fun as I did!
Been hectically busy lately with the 86, Organizing a Taupo Trackday and Working overtime, barely any time to myself but heres some more photos from pickets 21st birthday
Mr Ben Rice in his RB25DET powered S13 using me as a clipping point!
86 and smoke dont normally go in the same sentence but with Tarran Smith from Team S-Club pedalling Nick Teebons Turbo Notch, it definitely didn’t lack smoke throughout the day!
Graeme Smyth was also out in force making the most of the dry conditions!
Same with James Macdonald in his 180 ‘Turtle’
Royce wasnt repping gang signs, but this was much better! If viewers are confused as to what the signs mean, search up Ceffy Drift on youtube… The commentary is gold.
Max was doing wicked in his 1J powered S13 which is also for sale if anyone is interested!
Waz’s car seemed to be going alot better than the last time we took it to Taupo, the old 1GGE Fuel pump wasnt really up to the task eh? haha
This S14 had some aggressive entries all day which was good to watch!
Zac is defintely one of the better Hachi Drivers in NZ as he knows he has to throw the car into the corners, not just power through them!
But ending his day with a broken gearbox wasnt the best but he still seemed to have enjoyed the day as much as everyone else that attended,
For me this was the first time on Taupo Track 3, not only was it a good day from a spectators point of view, it was highly enjoyed by all the drivers too.
This day made me motivated enough to organize a Trackday with Picket for August. Tried to book it in for August the 6th (8/6) which is the Day of the 86 but got the 7th instead but the outcome of this event should be one to look out for! With alot of Hachi’s wanting to attend already, it should be a wicked day!
Have a lot of photos yet to be put up from different shoots and whatnot so will be posting up more and more soon enough!
What a site! Thanks for Aaron Mai from Aaron Mai Photography for showing me these clips from the recent Idlers Games at Tsukuba Circuit!
Would have been in a dream world to have been there in Person!
As the Day Progressed the track conditions started to dry out which only meant one thing…
Smoke; as Mike demonstrates here
And as confidence grew, so did the amount of battles like this one with Adam chasing Tarran
Heres a few more shots from earlier on in the morning
Anyway, the whole connection with the title is this day was probably the best day that I’ve had shooting close to the cars since Matsuri back in 09′
Enjoy
Part 3 to come from the afternoon!

Going through these photos take alot of time…
I’m nearly finished part II but here’s a Teaser of whats to come
Max Fouhy- ZeroClass
Taupo Local, Chris ‘Picket’ Howard from Zeroclass organized a trackday to celebrate his 21st birthday! Most of us came down for the event from Auckland but it was more than worth the trip down. I had gone down with Graeme Smyth who’s S15 I had featured on here before, along with his Missus Krystal, Dillon that has the Levin Featured Below and Elliot who’s S14 Ive also featured before.
As we headed down to the track, the weather was still quite moist, keeping the track surface damp
Mel from Team Blink had her JZX100 down for the day, along with Adam from C’s Garage in his S14 imported from Japan and Tarran from Team S-Club in Nick’s Race 86
Mike from Garage Slipway was there to debut the JZX90 on the Track
And seemed to have it under full control too!
Another JZX that was being put to good use thanks to Mel!
Graeme in his S15 had things under control with good use of the handbrake
Zac in his Trueno Notch was representing the Hachi’s in good form!
Adam adapted to the freshly imported S14 and seemed to be loving it!
With a little message to his Brother Joel who’s in Japan right now written on the rear quater
Adam followed by Zeroclass Max Fouhy
Tarran from Team S-Club was driving Nicks 86 like he stole it… maybe he did?
Even encountering some pressure by Mikes JZX90
As the morning progressed, there were more drivers getting comfortable with each other
Mel Following another Max’s 1JZ Powered S13
Max and Ben were the only people representing Tri-spokes for the day, funnily enough both on S13’s
Waz from Garage Slipway in his JZX81 always pleases the eye!
Funnily enough, most of the “Kiwi Drift” Scene only know about Laurels, Skylines and Cefiro’s as being Drift cars and mistake this as a Laurel… Isn’t that right Waz? haha
The only Cefiro for the day was Jo’s A31
And the only couple of R32’s was Royce’s a.k.a “Yol Lil Johnny’s, Rip Dat Shit!” 4Door
Powered by the almighty RB20E… Yes SOHC motor, with Tein Coilovers, 15’s and a
Lock diff EDIT: 2 Way, he was throwing and Kicking this thing around like a ragdoll whilst making it look cool! Awesome!
And the other skyline was Cam’s RB28 Powered R32 Coupe, opposite end of the spectrum wouldn’t you say? But Cam had this thing on lock down!
And you could definitely tell as the passenger looked like he was having the time of his life! But this really represented the Day as a whole.
And the two Laurels were Jason Sellers 2JZ powered C33 showing a bit of handbrake control
and this cool street reg’d C33
Neal was also looking like he was having a good time in his Strawberry Face 180
Same with James in his Turtle 180SX
Troy was building his confidence up as it was his first outing at a trackday
Elliot also took his S14 out for a few laps to see if his car was still missing… Guess it was fine!
Ali and Hugo were out seeing how the track was in Hugo’s 4×4
This is only the coverage from the morning…. There are many more to come with some cool close up shots of the entry corner so stay tuned!
Keisuke
